Let’s Chat About Me

Standard

I’m female. For those of you that don’t know what that means, it means that I have lady parts, not boy parts.

I am a complete and total JesusFreak, and I’m working on putting more umph! into my faith.

I have crazy hair. I bounce between blue, red, blonde, pink, dreads, etc… I never look the same as I did the last time you saw me. I have a sidecut, and I always will.

I am a passionate vegan who strives to live a compassionate life, spread love among humans and animals, improve the world, and create a little peace in my own crazy life.

I am a full-time college student, addicted to expanding my knowledge, and hindered by my own laziness. I am currently majoring in psychology and getting my pre-med requirements out of the way so that I can apply to medical school upon graduation.

I grew up in a city near Chicago in Illinois, but I currently live in the lower part of South Carolina. Let me tell you, jumping from the Windy City to the Dirty South was a HUGE culture-shock, especially for a vegan with facial piercings.

I am completely decorated with tattoos and facial piercings. I love being colorful, and I love letting my personality be as loud as I am.

I have a dog, a rabbit, two cats, and a horse. My creatures are my support system, since my husband is always bouncing in and out of the country.

I married my high-school sweetheart at a young age. Our dads were friends in high school, and our moms got pregnant at the same time and were in the same parenting classes, and we would have been born on the same day, but I was a month early. I’m very unpredictable.

I am recovering from an eating disorder. I say “recovering”, because I don’t know how I feel about the thought of someone ever being fully recovered from an addiction. I think I will probably deal with this for the rest of my life, but right now, I’m in a place where I can safely say I have control over things.

I have a passion for health and fitness, and I am currently taking classes to become a certified personal trainer.

I enjoy playing roller derby with the local Savannah team, even though I’m too slow to be a skating team member during the bouts (the games). I love smashing into other girls and being knocked on my ass. It makes life worth living.

My husband just left for another 7 month deployment, so I spend most of my time alone, trying to adjust and improve my life.

The Slump

Standard

I’m in a slump. A big, slumpy, slump. Don’t pretend that you don’t know what I’m talking about. We’ve all been caught up in one of those chaotic streams, where we are just out of swing with life for a few days…or weeks. The husband just left on deployment, and it is not easy picking up the work. I am now running the lives of two people, and doing twice the amount of work I did last week, when he was still here. I just can’t seem to get on top of things, and the work just keeps piling up.

I hate slumps.

But tomorrow is the beginning of a new month, so what a great time to change things around! I have chosen to take active steps to simplify and improve my life in every way. I am purging my home of garbage and my life of complications and bad habits.

I am going back to eating only clean and healthy foods (I’m a vegan, you know), working out daily, controlling my bad habits and negative behaviors, and making life a little more enjoyable.
